(Source – Miniature from Zubdat al-Tawarikh (ca. 1580), an Ottoman survey of world history by Seyyid Loqman Ashuri. It shows, from the centre: the ancient planets (the Moon with a mirror; Mercury as a scribe; Venus with a dulcimer; a haloed Sun; Mars as a warrior; Jupiter as a worthy; Saturn as an ascetic), the signs of the Zodiac in a clockwise order, the Moon’s phases in an anti-clockwise order aligned with the Mansions of the Moon.)

It reigns the domain situated between 12º51’27” and 25º42’52” Cancer on the astrological circle.

It is named Atars, Archaam, Arcaph, Alcarph and Attraaif in the astrologic and mystic tradition of Renaissance, Al-Tarf by arabic authors and Termelia by coptic greek astrologers. The arabic and greek astrologers state that this mansion is favorable for journeys, for bracing doors and gates, forging door bolts and for grain relocation. It is detrimental for partnerships, hair cutting, new clothes, and those caught in this period it announces a long captivity. Adjusting the medieval opinions to present, we can conclude that this lunar mansion influences the furniture industry, interior design, real estate business and logistic companies, the security services, the agriculture, the carpenters, the watchmen, the border guards, the drivers, the travel and real estate agents but also agricultural engineers.

From the magical point of view, the ninth mansion governs, according to Agrippa, the discord between people, the journey delays and the scarcity of crops. During this domain or mansion some people make talismans for causing or healing disabilities. The sufi mystic, Ibn Arabi, states that this mansion is corresponding to the mystic denomination “the self-existing supreme Sphere, the starless Sky, the Zodiac Towers”, to the divine attribute “the Independent One, the Rich One”, and the corresponding letter from the arabic kabbalah is J (Jîm). From here begin the spheres of existence, the manifested dimensions of reality, which are under the Throne or Chair of Divinity, the worlds where exists various categories of spirits. The first sphere is like a void which is preceding the visible universe, where the manifested divine forces, governing the inferior worlds of this sphere, have its source from. It is comparable with Kether from Kabbalah and it represents self-sufficient state of the Unity, the Monad or the divine Self from man, which exists only by dint of its own existence, unfounded and uninvolved.

The Sun in the Ninth Mansion indicates a person full of vitality, healthy, joyful but also temperate, without making any abuses. The native is full of kindness for those around him, he demonstrates politeness and manners, without being priggish or superior, he is the typical model of “gentleman” (or“lady”, for women).

The Moon in the Ninth Mansion, depending on gender, can offer details regarding the marriage and the personal force which the person has. In masculine nativities it has a benign influence, favoring the wedding and showing a happy marriage. The personal force is great, the native is optimistic, the vitality is good and the self-confidence in his own strengths is high. In the feminine nativities the things are exactly the opposite, the wedding is not recommended, an eventual marriage would be unhappy or marked by strong affective disturbances, and the long term relationships in general, with mutual commitments, will be deteriorated. The native will be predisposed to melancholic feelings,  constant deterrents and depression, and is characterized by fairly reduced personal force, low self-esteem and low self-confidence.

Mercury in the Ninth Mansion shows a multi-skilled person with a distributive attention and capacity to work in more fields or projects simultaneously, but at the same time, is hesitant, deceitful and capable to use unfair methods to achieve his purpose, however most of the time he is motivated by a good cause. His motto can be “The ends justify the means”. The partnerships with such a person will be full with illusions, lies and frauds, especially in businesses or legal issues so for the native is recommended to manage his projects alone.

Venus in the Ninth Mansion indicates a kind person, lacking a sense of authority, the significances related to the erotic field resemble those from the moon mansion. The masculine particularities show an enviable success for women and a seductive-romantic nature, while the female particularities show few and rare relationships, often unsatisfying, and a certain awkwardness in the couple’s life and socialization.

Mars in the Ninth Mansion determines an authoritarian character, sometimes even too authoritarian to others. In the masculine frames he is the opposite of Venus, indicating rare relationships, full of issues, a lack of charm and romanticism and a low self-confidence, however the female frames show frequent relationships, full of satisfactions and an enviable success for men. In both frames the relationships, regardless of their nature and duration, will be characterized by passion and intensity, either positive (a lot of passion, interesting and exciting relationships), or negative (quarrels, constraints, malignities and violence).

Jupiter in the Ninth Mansion indicates a mature, balanced and cordial person, a good friend, and a charismatic, benevolent hierarchical superior. The native is optimistic, devoted to his ideals and faithful, which makes him suitable for an academic, ecclesiastic and medical career.

Saturn in the Ninth Mansion shows us a reserved and serious native, with high manners, which also reveals a certain coldness and distance. He wants to be appreciated and recognized for his merits, he has a leaning towards authority and will have through his life some key professional positions. He can be snobbish, selfish, possessive, greedy, with a narrow, limited way of thinking and restrained in feelings.

Uranus in the Ninth Mansion indicates a calm and balanced native, with religious or spiritual inclinations, who radiates peace and safety. He is sometimes grave and serious, and sometimes amusing and unconventional, delighting the experience of his joys both inside and outside.

Neptune in the Ninth Mansion shows a loving, calm and warm person, full of good intentions. He has high concerns, from philosophy and mysticism to theology. He likes to apply his findings not because he wants to prove some concept, but to live the joy of the experiment. He can be a gifted priest, a skillful psychotherapist, a professor loved by students or a genuine spiritual teacher.

Pluto in the Ninth Mansion indicates an eccentric person, somewhat misunderstood by those around him. The native is impetuous, daring, unconventional and original in everything he does. He likes to explore his personality and the ways it can be expressed and he in specially to observe the reactions of those around him. He tends to seek attention, and as a consequence he can be quite childish.

Lilith in the Ninth Mansion designates a mischievous nature, especially with his close ones, a general lack of authenticity in manifestations and a lack of honesty. The native, is predisposed to exploit others, to deceive and to lie, depending on the situation. Sometimes he does these things without a certain reason, but from the simple wish to control the emotions and desires of those he manipulates or lies.

The North Node in the Ninth Mansion shows that the purpose of the native’s current life is the authentic spiritual openness and the practice of the divine virtues of love. The native must learn how to behave kindly with the others without having anything to gain from it, how to love unconditionally and undifferentiated, and to show acceptance, understanding and compassion for everyone and everything.

The South Node in the Ninth Mansion indicates a soul who must redeem a collective, social karma and not necessarily a personal one. In previous lives he took advantage of those who were honest and open with him, he deceived and lied on a large scale, which is why in the present life he will face similar but reversed situations. He will receive many blows, he will be often disappointed by those around him or society in general so he has to learn the lesson of detachment and unconditional love.
